In the Alboradan refugee settlement where she lives with her mother, that power makes Callia an outcast. In Valoria, the kingdom surrounding them, it could get her killed. Her mother has taught her to stay quiet and keep her power hidden. But all Callia wants is to belong. When she befriends a grieving girl as lonely as she is, she begins to hope there might be a place for her.

The First Thread is a prequel novella to the Threads of Truth series (Book One coming soon!), following the first painful stirrings of her forbidden gift, the friendship that almost made her feel ordinary, and the moment she learns that using her magic for good will not stop others from fearing her.

Threads of Truth: Book One

After her mother's death leaves her alone, fourteen-year-old Callia seeks refuge at Greystone, where she finds something she has never truly had before: friends who accept her, a mentor who understands her forbidden magic, and a place where she finally belongs. Under Atlas's guidance, she learns to control her gift as a Story Weaver. But as his lessons grow into tests and his protection comes with expectations, Callia begins to understand that being valued for what she can do is not the same as being valued for who she is.

When a rising political threat puts everything she has found at Greystone at risk, Callia must navigate loyalty, belonging, and the dangerous power of her own magic while deciding how much of herself she is willing to give to the people who spared her life.

I pose as a corporate copywriter by day, but I've wanted to be an author since the fourth grade. I write character-driven fantasy with a love for magic, political intrigue, complicated choices, and characters with rich interior worlds.

In 2026 I won the NYC Midnight Short Story Challenge, taking first place overall out of more than 5,000 writers worldwide.

Right now I'm editing my first novel for self-publication, and building the world of Threads of Truth one thread at a time.
